Our History

PUTIEN – Tasty, Simple & Heart-Warming Comfort Food.

The PUTIEN brand traces its roots to its namesake city of Putian – a beautiful coastal suburb in Fujian, with rich cultural history and storied tradition since its settlement over almost one and a half millennium ago. It is, after all, the birthplace of the goddess Mazu and the fabled Southern Shaolin Kungfu, among many other legendary tales.

Seated against majestic mountains and facing the vast ocean, Putian is blessed with bountiful harvests from land and sea. Its humble people offered only their best produce to honour God, ancestors and country.

2000

Opened 1st outlet at Kitchener Road as a no frills “coffee shop style” eatery specialize in Heng Hwa cuisines

2004

Expanded and spilled into an adjacent unit to accommodate ever-increasing customers

2005

Took up upper floors of existing shophouse units at Kitchener Road

2006

Opened 2nd outlet at VivoCity Food Republic

Voted as Singapore’s Top 50 Restaurant by The Sunday Times

Opened PUTIEN’s 1st overseas outlet in Central Jakarta

2008

Embarked on a major rebranding exercise

Opened 3rd outlet at Tampines Mall

Opened 4th outlet at Marina Square

2009

Established a new 4,500sqf central kitchen in Kaki Bukit

Opened 5th outlet at Jurong Point

Opened 6th outlet at Parkway Parade

Winner of “Established Brand Award” in Singapore Prestige Brand Award

Winner of “Press Ad Single/Campaign – Chinese” in SPH Ink Award

2010

Launch of popular speciality “preservative-free” chilli sauce – Spice Mum

Winner of “Overall Champion” in Restaurant Association Singapore’s Tasty Chef Award, bagging Winner of Best Starter & Winner of Best Soup respectively

Relocation of Central Kitchen to a new 8,500sqf at Harper Road Opened 8th outlet in Resorts World Sentosa

Relocate our VivoCity Food Republic outlet to a bigger premise within the same mall
